Columbia County Sheriff’s Deputies responding to a hold-up alarm this morning arrested a male suspect on a felony parole violation. The resident of the home was also arrested for Hindering Prosecution.
In custody is Roger Dale Tatum, 57, on a statewide arrest warrant for Absconding from Parole and a secondary warrant for Menacing out of Columbia County. Deputies also arrested the resident of the home where they found Tatum. Sandra K. Poslick, 65, of St. Helens was booked and released on a charge of Hindering Prosecution.
Deputies responded to 33170 Dan Cupp Rd., after an alarm company notified the Sheriff’s Office of a manually triggered hold-up alarm. After deputies arrived, they determined the alarm may have been triggered inadvertently.
Deputies determined, however that Mr. Tatum was hiding in the residence and were preparing to go in when the suspect surrendered without incident.
Tatum was absconding from his state parole on driving offenses.
The Sheriff’s Office was also assisted by officers from the St. Helens and Vernonia Police departments. Two Canine officers responded to assist as well.
