Surplus County-owned Real Properties
TO: All Interested Parties
FROM: Cynthia Zemaitis, Natural Resources Administrator
Fortunately, Columbia County takes very few properties through foreclosure. Those that we have taken deed to, and which have been deemed to be surplus to the County’s needs, are available for sale. For a list of all County surplus property, see Surplus Property List.
Due to the nature of these properties, most of them can be sold by private sale. See, Sale Procedures for details on whether a property can be sold outside of the auction process and the procedures to follow if you wish to make an offer on a piece of surplus property.
At this time, Columbia County has no current plans to hold a public auction. However, if a decision is made to conduct an auction, advanced notice will be posted to this website and published in local newspapers. No separate mailing lists or mailing of individual notices will be done.
The County will be pleased to consider offers on surplus property between now and any future auction, provided that any such offers comply with the Sale Procedures and Purchase Offer form linked to this document. However, the Board of County Commissioners, in their sole discretion, reserves the right to reject any offers if they deem it not in the public interest to accept an offer.
Please review all of the documents linked to the County Lands homepage and, if you still have questions or would like additional information, feel free to email me at:
Thank you for your interest in County lands.
